The Search function can be launched in a couple of ways to assist you in locating information:

• Searching your project:
  • Use the search box in the middle of most screens to search for keyword matches across the project. Depending on your project type, search returns results from:
    • Documents tab (index, sandbox, and inbox)
    • Comments in your files
    • Trackers
    • Activities
  • Use Columns and Filters sidebars to display the desired information grid
  • Click column heads, then drag and drop columns to customize your view
• Find terms in the document viewer: Use the search bar at the top of the document viewer to search for keyword matches within a file

Searching your project

Project files are processed upon upload and made searchable via optical character recognition (OCR). The default processing language is English. Admins can designate a different default search language if desired; see Document language settings.

1. In any tab, enter your search term in the 'Search' field, located at the top. Search can also be opened at any time using keyboard commands: Ctrl+/ for Windows Cmd+/ for Mac.
   • As you type, documents and folders appear that match your search term
     • Click a document to open it and click a folder to go to that folder
     • Hover over a document in the Documents section and click the three vertical dots to see a list of available actions
   • To narrow a search:
     • Click into the search field and click the Advanced Search icon at the bottom
   • Search techniques:
     • AND or &: Use to view only results containing both terms, e.g., Employment AND Agreement, Employment & Agreement
     • + (plus sign) before a word makes it required, e.g., +Employment +Agreement
     • NOT or - (minus sign) : Use to view only results not containing the term, e.g., Employment -Agreement; files containing only the term 'Employment' but not 'Agreement' are returned
     • AND and NOT must be in English regardless of project language settings
     • Quotes " " - Bracket terms in quotes to return multi-word searches intact, e.g., "Terms and Conditions"
     • These commands only function in the main search field and are not applicable when using Search in the Secure content viewer
2. Press 'Enter' or click the Search icon  to go to the Search results page.
   • Select Filters in the right-hand pane and choose desired elements. Results update automatically
   • Select Columns to show and hide details about each result
   • If you want to perform an identical search in the future, click Save Search in the upper right .You'll be prompted to name your search, then click Save. All filters are maintained
     
   • Access your saved searches by clicking into the search field and clicking the Saved Searches icon at the bottom
3. Hover over the file title for a preview of the matched file. Document previews can be translated into a variety of languages.
4. Click the title of an item to view it.
   • Documents will open in a new browser tab
   • Trackers will switch to the Trackers tab and select the row of the matching item
   • Comments will open the document in a new browser tab
   • Activities will switch to the Trackers tab, select the Target, select the activity, and open the Activity notes dialog
5. Click the index number to open the folder containing the document.
   • Alternately, right click and select Open Folder
6. Select the star icon to add an item to your Favorites list in Shortcuts.

Document management

Project administrators and reviewers with manage permissions can perform most document management capabilities within search results. It's a handy way to, for example, find a file that you'd like to move, copy, or replace, without the need to navigate back to the Documents tab to perform the task. Available admin options are located in the options button bar located above the search results by selecting an item via checkbox or by right clicking a row.  Options include:

• Copy
• Download
• Export
• Move
• Open in Folder
• Print
• Recycle
• Redact
• Rename
• Replace with a file

These options vary depending on the selected item and your level of access. 

Find terms in the document viewer

From within the document viewer, click the magnifying glass icon at the upper left to open the search field.

1. Enter your search term.
2. In the viewer, the first match is highlighted, and additional matches show in the right navigation pane.
3. Click arrows to move to the next or previous match; or click a specific instance to jump to that match.

NOTE: 

• In the Excel Online Viewer, click Find to begin finding keywords
• Search/Find is not available in the Video Content Viewer
