Datasite opens Excel documents in a different document viewer than other file types, in order to optimize your viewing experience. 

Files opened with Excel Online in your web browser display documents similarly to the Excel desktop application. In specific instances, there can be nominal differences between the two displays, and some unsupported interactions.

Our Excel Online Viewer is designed to avoid the pitfalls presented by standard document viewers when viewing Excel files. The image is viewable in its native format, rather than a PDF or image.

However, if viewing in PDF format is preferred:

  1   In the Documents tab, select the checkbox associated with the file.

  2   Click More Actions > View As PDF.

If watermarks have been enabled, they appear in a 'tiled' format in this viewer. This ensures optimum document coverage.
 

Maximum File Size

Maximum file size that a user can open in the Excel Online Viewer is 25 MB. When attempting to view Excels larger than 25MB, users are prompted to use the standard secure document viewer, and can view the file in PDF form. 

Additional file features that are not supported in the Excel Online viewer include:

• Files created in Microsoft Office 95
• Files running macros
• Files with cell watches enabled

Attempting to open files with these attributes prompts messaging directing the user to view the item in the PDF viewer.
