Why are my document and folder titles being truncated after I upload them?

It is likely that the full file path of the content being uploaded has exceeded the Windows Character limitation of 260 characters. If this is the case, any items that exceed this limitation will have a truncated filename in Windows.

If you upload a folder that has nested folders, the only title that will be truncated is the top level  folder with content. If you want to avoid renaming the top level folder, we recommend moving it to the lowest level in your local drive (C:/) which helps reduce the number of characters in the total file path.

If you upload documents, there are two options available:
  1. The documents can be moved to the lowest level folder in the drive to reduce the number of characters in the path to the documents. (C:\ , for example)
  2. A folder holding documents can be uploaded, and the title of top level folder in the relative path will be truncated. In this case, the folder's title would be truncated and the titles of the documents would be untouched. When the upload is finished you can move the documents out of the folder and delete the empty folder.
