The Sandbox provides a staging area for Project Admins, where folder structures and files can be organized before moving them into a fileroom. Please contact your Datasite sales representative if you'd like to use the Sandbox feature on your project. 

The Sandbox is located in the left navigational panel within the Documents tab.


Attributes of the Sandbox:
 

• The Sandbox is only visible to Project Admins, unless reviewers with manage permissions are given access, with limited functionality. See Sandbox - Reviewers with Manage Permissions
• Folders and files can be uploaded, moved, deleted, and organized within this area, prior to moving them into a fileroom
• Items moved or copied out of the Sandbox cannot be moved or copied back into the Sandbox; files are added to the Sandbox via upload only
• Items moved or copied from the Sandbox to a fileroom arrive in the fileroom in an unpublished status, and
  • Inherit destination permissions for reviewer roles with manage permissions
  • Have permissions set to 'Hidden' for standard reviewer roles
• Items deleted from the Sandbox are deleted permanently — they do not move to the Recycle Bin
• Sandbox contents are included on the Index list report

Sandbox content organization can be enhanced using AI Categories tools.

 

To create a folder in the Sandbox:
 

  1   Access the Documents tab.

  2   In the left navigational panel, under Sandbox, click the Staging Folder.

  3   Navigate to the area where you'd like to create the new folder and click Add Folder in the upper options toolbar.

  4   Enter a Folder Name, or add multiple folders separated pressing Enter/Return.

  5   Click Save.

To add files to the Sandbox​:
 

  1   Access the Documents tab.

  2   In the left navigational panel, under Sandbox, click the Staging Folder.

  3   Navigate to the folder where you'd like to upload a file or files; click the folder to display its contents in the center viewing pane.

  4   In the upper options toolbar, click Upload.

  5   Browse for, or drag and drop items and click Next.

  6   Click Upload.

  7   Click Done.

 

To copy folders or files to an additional location within the Sandbox:


  1   Within the Sandbox Staging Folder, locate the folders/files you'd like to copy.

  2   In the center viewing pane, select the checkbox(es) associated with the items.

  3   In the upper options toolbar, click Copy.

  4   Choose a destination and permissions. If inheriting permissions click Preview Permissions.
NOTE: Filerooms appear in your destination location options. Items can't be copied back to the Sandbox. 

  5   Click Copy.

To move folders or files around using drag and drop:

  1   Within the Sandbox Staging Folder, locate the folder(s) or file(s) you'd like to move.

  2   In the left navigational pane, expand the folder structure as necessary to expose the destination folder.

  3   In the center viewing pane, select items(s) by ticking their checkbox. Click and hold your mouse button on the waffle to the left of the checkbox for the item you'd like to move.

  4   Drag the item(s) into the left navigation pane, hovering over the destination folder and release the mouse button.

  5  The item(s) is dropped into the destination folder, taking the next available position in the folder.

  6   Click Preview Permissions, and then click Move.

To move folders and files with a drop down selector:

  1   Within the Sandbox Staging Folder, locate the folders/files you'd like to move.

  2   In the center viewing pane, select the checkbox(es) associated with the items.

  3   In the upper options toolbar, click Move.

  4   Choose a destination and permissions. If inheriting permissions click Preview Permissions.
NOTE: Filerooms appear in your destination location options. Items can't be moved back to the Sandbox. 

  5   Click Move.
