Two methods of of document translation are available on Datasite Acquire and Datasite Diligence projects.

• Admin document translation - Performed by admins to create a new, billable, fully translated document. The translated file is posted in the index and available to all reviewers with access permissions. This functionality must be enabled on your project. Contact an Assist team member for information.
• User document translation - Performed by any user, supplies a fully translated personalized document view that is available only to the user who performed the translation

This article explains the Admin document translation process.

With Admin translation enabled, Project Admins can create translated documents to and from these languages:

• English
• Brazilian Portuguese
• Chinese (traditional & simplified)
• Danish
• Dutch
• French
• German
• Greek
• Italian
• Japanese
• Korean
• Polish
• Russian
• Spanish
• Swedish
• Turkish

 

Documents available for translation must be a pdf, doc, docx, xlsx, or csv and be 40MB or less.

 

Project Admins can translate files in the Documents page: 

  1   Select files for translation by ticking their checkbox. Up to ten (10) PDFs can be selected at a time. 

  2   Start translation using either of two options:

• • Click Translate
  • Right-click on the Index row desired and choose Translate

  3   Choose the desired target language. Click Translate.

  4   A pop-up appears confirming translations are in progress. When the pop-up's text changes to 'Translation complete', the translated documents are created after the last document at the bottom of the folder containing the original file.

 

For most roles, new translated documents are hidden and unpublished by default. 
Project Admins and roles with manage permissions for the parent folder can see an unpublished translated document. 
Once complete, set permissions as desired for the new document. 

 

Additional Information about Admin Translation

• Admin Translation is available in both the Sandbox and the Index
• Admin Translated files are tethered to the source file - Deleting the original file also deletes all associated translated versions
• A Translated document column in the content grid has a symbol for translated documents for easy filtering and sorting of translated items
• Admin Translated files can be renamed; Translated files are labeled 'Original file name - Translated language' (for example: ABC Holdings - French)
• Admin Translated files cannot be re-translated, however the original file can be translated as often as needed, creating a new document
• Redacted files can't be translated, translated documents can be redacted
• Admin Translated documents can't be copied
• Admin Translated documents are billed as a new upload
• Admin Translated documents are downloadable if the user is in a role with download access to the file
