Redaction categories may or may not be available depending on your project configuration.

 

Redaction categories allow project admins and Reviewers with Manage Permissions performing redactions to assign a category to a term or set of terms being redacted. Grouping redactions together by category can help determine redaction states with a file, and is particularly beneficial if at some point a set of redactions should be confirmed or removed from several files at once.

 

Each redaction category is assigned a colored symbol. Up to four redaction categories are available, and up to three reasons can be assigned custom names ('Unassigned' cannot be renamed). Upon initial use, default reason names and colors include:

• Unassigned (gray)
• Compliance (green)
• Strategic (blue)
• Commercial (pink)

To assign a new color or change the default title of a redaction category, from within the Redaction tab,

  1   Click Manage Categories located in the left sidebar.

  2   Click the color or title associated with the category you'd like to change.

  3   Choose the desired color and/or type a new category title into the available field.

  4   Click the 'check mark' icon to confirm title updates. Colors update automatically when chosen. Optionally, add a note to a category by clicking into the associated field.


The 'Categories' column in your redacted files grid displays category icons.

• A solid colored icon denotes redactions within this category have been confirmed
• An 'open' colored icon denotes redactions within this category are in 'Draft' status 

Use categories to confirm drafted redactions across multiple files

  1   Filter the 'Categories' column by selecting the desired category and/or status from the drop-down list at the top of the column.

  2   Via checkbox, select files from the content grid with an 'open' icon that you'd like to confirm.

  3   In 'Details and Actions', click Redact/Unredact Marked Terms.

  4   Click into the ensuing pop-up window and select only the category icon(s) associated with the redactions you'd like to confirm.

  5   Click Confirm.

  6   Select Confirm and Replace.

The selected redactions are now confirmed.

Use categories to revert confirmed redactions across multiple files

  1   Filter the 'Categories' column by selecting the desired category and/or status from the drop-down list at the top of the column.

  2   Via checkbox, select files from the content grid with a solid icon containing redactions you'd like to remove.

  3   In 'Details and Actions', click Redact/Unredact Marked Terms.

  4   Click into the ensuing pop-up window and unselect only the category icon(s) associated with the redactions you'd like to remove.

  5   Click Confirm.

  6   Select Confirm and Replace.

The selected redactions are now reverted from 'Redaction Confirmed' to 'Draft' status.
