How do I create a CSV UFT-8 file in MacOS?

If you are using MacOS you can follow the steps below to save as a UTF-8 file by opening your spreadsheet in Numbers to convert and export the final CSV file to UTF-8 encoding.

Excel for Mac does not natively support the import or export of UTF-8 encoded files.

To convert using Numbers:
  1. Click on File.
  2. Hover over Export.
  3. In the sub-menu that appears, choose CSV.
  4. Click on Advanced Options to show the Text Encoding dropdown.
  5. Select Unicode (UTF-8) from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Save.
