Utilize the invitation process to quickly instruct users to register for project access. Users are sent an email with instructions to complete an online registration form. After registering, users are granted access to the project.

To invite a user to your project:

1. Navigate to Users.
2. Click Add User and a window appears.
3. Type or copy/paste the user's email address in the Email Addresses field. Multiple addresses can be added, separated by spaces or commas.
4. Select a user classification.
5. Choose the Role for the user in the Role dropdown. Select Create new Role if necessary. See How do I create a role? for more steps.
6. Choose a Language. This affects the default invitation only. Any modifications to the default invitation overrides the language choice. If the invitee has a registered Datasite account, their chosen language in their profile will override the default invitation's language choice.
7. Choose to assign the invitee to a Team. If the correct team doesn't exist, select Create New Team and add it. The invited user is assigned to the newly created team.
8. Optionally, assign the user to a Q&A team.
9. Click Send Invite to send out the invitation immediately. If you would like to save the invitation to send later, click Save as Draft.

If desired, prior to sending the invite you may customize the invitation message using the rich text editor. Click Save as Template to save changes for use when sending invites in the future.

The user(s) you invited will receive a registration email. Email registration links expire in 30 days. See Email Registration for more information.

Users who have previously registered for a Datasite project are not required to register again when being invited to a new project. They are notified of the new project via email, and the new project appears on their Projects page.

User status changes to 'Active' once the project has been accessed by the user. A user who has registered but not yet accessed the project remains in 'Invited' status.

Note: Your project must be launched before drafted invitations can be sent. You can confirm the project's status from the Settings tab. If the project is not yet launched, follow the steps outlined in Launching a project to proceed.
