How do I see if a folder has any content?

In the Documents tab you can see if a folder has any content in the left navigation pane. An empty folder will have an outline and a folder with an item in it is solid. A folder in a folder counts as an item.

When you tick a checkbox for a folder in the center navigation pane, an attributes row appears at the bottom of the content grid.
