I'm downloading items and receiving an option to shorten file names. What does this mean? 
 

Most Windows OS versions have a 260-character file path limitation.

This means that attempting to perform functions like duplicating, deleting, or even opening files with a longer file path does not work without either shortening the file path or using additional tools.

If you're attempting to download an item or items with long titles, or that are housed in a deep folder structure (or both), Datasite recognizes the potential issue and automatically provides an option to help you avoid bumping into Windows file path limitations.

When preparing a download, if you are using Windows, it's recommended to select Shorten file names. This choice only appears if you are downloading material with file paths longer than 260 characters.
