Download options control the format and security applied when users download files from a project. Each role has a download option that applies when the role also has Download permission for the selected content.

Native File

Files download in their original format, such as .docx, .xlsx, or .pdf.

Native File is the default download option and is a role download option. Native File Download is a file-specific setting that lets users download an individual file in its native format even when the role uses Watermarked PDF or Revoke Access Control. Watermarked PDF

Supported files download as secure, watermarked PDFs.

• Files that cannot be converted to PDF, such as ZIP or media files, download in their native format.
• Excel files download in their native format without a watermark.

A Project Admin can allow native file download for an individual file even when the role uses Watermarked PDF.

Revoke Access Control

Revoke Access Control (RAC), also known as Information Rights Management (IRM) or Document Rights Management (DRM), applies encryption to supported downloaded files. This lets Project Admins revoke access to downloaded content.

RAC protection is available for the following file types:

• Microsoft Office files
• PDF
• CSV
• JPEG and JPG
• PNG
• BMP
• TIFF and TIF

Printable file types that do not support RAC download as watermarked PDFs when watermarks are enabled on the project.

By default, users have read-only access to RAC-protected downloads. A Project Admin can also enable additional options for the role.

• Allow users to edit downloaded content lets users view, edit, and save supported downloaded files.
• Allow users to print downloaded content lets users print RAC-protected downloads locally. Printed copies cannot be revoked.
• Add expiration date for downloaded content sets a date when access to downloaded content expires.

When RAC is enabled for a role, Print permission is not available for RAC-protected files in the document viewer. Users can print downloaded content locally only when Allow users to print downloaded content is enabled.

Some files are not protected by RAC or secondary watermarked PDF protection. These include Excel files with macros enabled and Download Only file types. These files download in their native format.

A Project Admin can also allow native file download for an individual file to bypass RAC for that file.

Users can access most RAC-protected downloads without installing the Seclore Lite plug-in. Some files and native-format workflows require the plug-in. For more information, see Installing the Seclore plug-in.

Change the download option for a role

1. Go to the Permissions tab.
2. In the Roles panel, find the role that you want to update.
3. Click the options menu for the role.
4. Click Edit Role.
5. Select the required download option.
6. Click Save.
