How do I use the content viewer to view, search, print, or download files?

The Secure Content Viewer allows you to view the file of your choosing within a separate tab in your browser. To open a file in the viewer, access Documents, then navigate to the file within the index. Click on the file title to open it in a preview window. In the preview, click Open to display the document in the viewer. You can also search for words or phrases within the content of the file. Some of the highlights of the Secure Content Viewer are described below:
 

Full Document Search

You can search the whole file for a search term or phrase. All matches (including surrounding text) will be displayed in the left panel of the secure content viewer so that you can jump to a specific match.
 

  1   Select the Document Search  icon in the upper right corner of the Content Viewer.

  2   Enter the Search term or phrase into the Search box.

  3   If matches exist, you'll instantly be brought to the first match. Use the arrow icons to navigate to additional matches.

 

Page Navigation

There are a few different methods to navigate to different pages in your file.

• Scroll through the file using the vertical scrollbar
• Use the thumbnail navigation in the left panel 
• Use the pan (hand) icon to click and 'grab' pages. 

You can view up to 10 files in the same viewer. Files appear in separate tabs. To do so, in the Documents tab, select desired files via checkbox. Then in the 'Selected Items' window, choose Open X Files ('X' representing the number of files chosen).

Using the same sequence, you can open two files in the same viewer window for side-by-side comparison. To do so, in the Documents tab, select two files via checkbox. Then in the 'Selected Items' window, choose Compare Files. Perform a manual visual review, or click Show Comparison to open a sidebar that displays a file comparison. Scrolling between files is synced by default. To un-sync scrolling click the Stop Sync icon .

 

Page Layout

You can change how your file is visually displayed on the screen. The available options include single, continuous, facing, etc.

  1   Select the 'View controls' cog icon in the upper left of the secure content viewer.

  2   Select a layout option. 
 

Print

If you have Print permissions for the file you are viewing, you can print the file to the print device of your choosing from the secure content viewer.
 

  1   Select the Print  icon in the upper part of the secure content viewer.

  2   A print dialog box opens in the middle of the viewer.

  3   Select to print All pages, the Current Page, or a specific page or range of pages. The total number of pages to be printed is displayed in the print dialog.

  4   Click Print. 

  5   Your browser's Print Dialogue window opens. Select your desired print output device and preferences.

  6   Click the Print button located within your browser's Print Dialogue window.
 

Download

If you have Download permissions for the file you are viewing, you can download the file to your local device.
 

  1   Select the Download  icon in the upper part of the secure content viewer.

  2   The file downloads to your local drive using your browser's download functionality in its native format.

 

Summarize & Explain This

 

Summarize

 

Click Summarize to generate a high-level summary of the entire document displayed in the viewer.

 

Explain This

 

This feature offers a focused explanation of a selected portion of text.

 

  1   Select Explain This.

  2   Right-click and drag your mouse to select the desired text section.

  3   Click Explain Selected.

If your original text selection isn't exactly as you'd prefer, select Clear Highlight and start again.
