Datasite MCP Server - Connecting Datasite to AI Platforms

Connect your firm's LLM to Datasite to set up, populate, and validate the deal room using natural language. Start managing your deal with Model Context Protocol (MCP). It provides a Large Language Model (LLM) with direct access to Datasite's virtual data room platform. Rather than logging into the Datasite platform, connect within your LLM and ask it to set up projects, build folder structures, upload documents, search content, and invite participants all through natural conversation. 

For deal professionals specifically, this means your LLM can take on the heavy lifting of data room administration, from creating a new data room and organizing its index, to running content gap analyses and auditing document quality, without ever leaving your AI workflow.

 

Datasite's MCP Server works with Datasite Diligence®, Datasite Acquire®, and Datasite Prepare®. Certain functions like document interrogation only work with Datasite Diligence™ and Datasite Acquire™. 

 

Note: The Claude MCP cannot access, manipulate, or answer questions about the content in your dataroom unless you have Datasite's Blueflame AI enabled.

    Claude

    Connecting the Datasite App

     

    • Log into your Claude account.
    • In the panel on the left click Customize.
    • Click Connect your apps. 
    • Type Datasite in the search field. 
    • Click the Datasite connector tile.
    • Click Connect in the upper right. You are directed to Datasite's authentication page.
    • Log in with your existing Datasite credentials. If you do not have a Datasite account, you can create a free account: Datasite User Registration.
    • Authorize the connector to access your Datasite account.
    • After you are authenticated, return to Claude. The connector is ready to use, no manual configuration is needed.

      Managing Claude Tool Permissions

      After Datasite is connected to Claude, choose which tools are allowed and how you interact with Tool permissions. Select between Always Allow, Blocked, Needs Approval (each time) for the Read tools and Write/delete tools as a group or customize each tool choice.

      Connecting the Datasite App

       

      1. Find the Datasite connector in the ChatGPT Apps page.
      2. Select the Datasite app to view more information about the application, and click Connect.
      3. Review additional details, and click Connect Datasite to proceed. You will be redirected to Datasite's authentication page.
      4. Log in with your existing Datasite credentials. If you do not have a Datasite account, you can create a free account: Datasite User Registration.
      5. After you are authenticated, you will automatically be redirected to ChatGPT. The connector is ready to use.

      Copilot

      Connecting the Datasite App

      1. Find the Datasite Copilot Agent in the Microsoft Marketplace.
      2. Select the Datasite Copilot Agent app card to view more information about the application, and click Get it Now.
      3. Review additional details, and click Get it Now to proceed.
      4. Go to Copilot and select Agents on the left.
      5. Click Datasite Copilot Agent. The Agent is ready to use.

      Restrictions

      • Accounts with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enforced at the project level cannot access those projects via the connector. Users need to log in directly at https://datasite.com
      • Projects with disclaimers set to Every Login are not able to be queried by MCP
      • The MCP Server operates with the permissions of an authenticated user; it can't access projects the user doesn't have rights to and can't bypass or elevate existing access controls
      • File size upload can't exceed 10 MB
      • Download is not an allowed activity. Your AI Agent will direct you to the location of the file so you can go to a project and download it
      • Files can't be searched without enabling Datasite's Blueflame AI. Contact service support or your sales rep to enable
      • Blueflame AI only works with Datasite Diligence™ and Datasite Acquire™ projects
